Doug Goltz, Sacred Heart Coach and CAO was inducted into the National Coaches Hall of Fame in June of 2024.

The event was held in Bismarck, North Dakota, on June 25th, 2024. Goltz was accompanied by his son Matt. They were joined by all the other nominees and their families, as well.

The convention lasted four days and hosted hundreds of people. The NHSACA (Nebraska High School Athletic Coaches Association) has been hosted on the same dates every year for over 50 years.

Goltz was able to receive this achievement due to his outstanding coaching career. A few of his achievements include a record of 341 wins and 70 losses in football and 749 wins and 207 losses in boys’ basketball record, which is the on-going state record for most wins in boys’ basketball. He also helps coach both boys and girls track and field. He has been part of 30 state titles between his three coaching positions. He also held a perfect 8-0 record in state title games from 1989-2016 in football and 11-0 in state championships in boys’ basketball between 1988-2021.

Coach Goltz has been a nominee for National Coach of the Year in boys’ basketball and football several times. “This is a great honor. I have been a finalist for COTY in basketball and football a few times so I have been to the national induction ceremony. The HOF selection is often retired coaches but sometimes they induct active coaches also.” Goltz was also awarded many other titles, such as the National High School Athletic Coaches Association “Boys Basketball Coach of the Year” in 2022. He is in the Nebraska Eight-Man Football Hall of Fame, as well.  He recently was inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame. “The accomplishments I’ve been recognized for not only honor me, but it also honors our school and our community.”

When asked about why he continues coaching after all of this time, he said, “I coach not only because I enjoy sports, but because I love watching a team progress throughout the season. I hope to be a good example to future and fellow coaches at Sacred Heart.” Goltz has already left and will forever leave an irreplaceable and unforgettable mark on the school of Sacred Heart and the town of Falls City.
