Recently I was having a conversation with a Sacred Heart parent who supports of our school and whose opinion I respect. We were talking about how things are currently going at our school in regards to our enrollment and our finances. It was a great talk and gave me affirmation that our leadership is making good decisions for the future of our school. During the conversation the thing that stuck with me the most was when he said, “There is a lot of positive energy about our school right now”. The more I thought about this, the more I agree. Things are going well for our school despite the struggles we face financially to keep it going.
Our enrollment is up from last year with the addition of several new students and several new families. If you know of families that may be interested in their children attending our school, encourage them to contact us to learn more. Our students are excelling academically and in extra-curricular activities. A very large percentage of our students are continually on the high honor roll each quarter and each semester. This fall our volleyball team won the D2 state championship, winning our school’s 40th state title to date. Participation is high in all our activities from the arts to athletics. Our teaching staff is very high caliber and ACT scores continue to be higher than state and national averages. Our students understand the meaning of service and volunteer in our school and community time and time again. When our students leave for college and beyond, they are well prepared in their faith and are prepared to succeed in whatever they choose.
Our school foundation recently doubled due to the generosity of the Gary Hunker estate. Fundraising for a new activity bus has exceeded all expectations and we have purchased a new bus that will benefit our entire school. Sacred Heart tuition has been raised significantly over the past several years but the addition of the Good Shepherd, Guardian Angel, and Technology Scholarships keeps the cost affordable for our families. Our tuition continues to be the lowest in the Diocese of Lincoln. This is due to the generosity of so many – our local parishes, our foundation, our lower teacher pay, all our fundraising, and the success of our Annual Fund.
Yes there is a great deal of positive energy at Sacred Heart School. Thank you to all who are contributing to this!
Sacred Heart School – a family educating heart, mind, body and spirit for this life and the next.
