Dear Friends and Family of Falls City Sacred Heart,
God’s blessings to you all as we prepare for the Nativity of Jesus; Savior of the World, Prince of Peace!
Here at Sacred Heart we all have been eagerly looking forward to this time as well. Students, teachers and staff alike all in their own way get a little giddy this time of year and the break will be a great opportunity to refresh the hearts, heads, and hands that have been working so hard since August.
In addition to the hustle and bustle of getting ready for final tests, papers, and projects we also have many Winter Activities underway: Boys and Girls Basketball, Contest Speech, to name a few. With all of our activities there is preparation and practice. I am constantly edified by the discipline and dedication our students exhibit both in and out of the classroom. “Practice makes perfect” as the saying goes, and that applies to our faith life as well. If we can help our students to be disciplined, they will be ready to be good disciples. And if they can find ways to dedicate their lives to God a little more each day, they will come to see that He has dedicated Himself to them totally and completely. That is the Gift of Christmas:
“For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, Christ the Lord.” – Luke 2:11
To give ourselves every opportunity to prepare to not only receive the gift of Christ at Christmas but to be able to be that Gift to others, the community prayed the Living Rosary before the Winter Formal. It is another wonderful tradition that I am learning about, and if you know something about the origin of how it began, please write me a note or send an email. It was a beautiful way to enter into the spirit of Advent: He is Coming! I find great peace in those moments where we are able to celebrate our Catholic faith by giving our students a personal encounter with Christ. I hope that you get to experience some of this peace in your homes as you attend Christmas services with your family and friends. Jesus is our Emmanuel, “God with us”, and when our children are living with His Grace in their hearts, what a joy they can be!

We hold them as a precious gift and strive to give them every opportunity to grow, especially in the grace and knowledge of God. I pray that you enjoy your time with family and friends and that the peace of Christ be in your hearts and homes again this Christmas.
