With the month of August ending, we are off to a good start to the new school year. I want to welcome the several new students we have at Sacred Heart this year. Besides our new kindergartners we have fourteen new students for 2023-24. Thank you for joining the Sacred Heart Family and entrusting us with your children. We also welcome our new staff members. New teachers this year at Sacred Heart are Emily Clark in 3rd Grade, Fr. Caleb Hile teaching high school religion, Sebastian Boelhower K-12 Music, and Taylor Kearney our new Title Teacher. We also welcome back Sherry Maddox who is here as our Speech Therapist while Alexis Bippes is out on maternity leave. And welcome back our teachers and staff who have dedicated their lives to teaching and working at Sacred Heart School. The strength of our school is our staff who love your children and who sacrifice to teach at a school like Sacred Heart.
A lot of work happens during the summer at Sacred Heart School. Besides cleaning and getting the school ready, there are often projects to improve our facilities. Our new playground project is complete but the fundraising efforts continue. All Husker Seatback money raised this year will go towards the playground. Please be generous and help at several games this season. Each volunteer earns $90 for our school. That’s $4500 per game if we can get a crew of fifty. If you would like to donate to the playground fund, this will be a big help to pay this off. And a big thank you to all who helped with the installation this summer and to our fundraising committee as they continue to help raise money for this project.
Currently we are having our Booster Family Membership drive. Thanks to many of you who have joined by purchasing a $25, $50, or $100 membership. Thank you to those who have joined as $250 Corner members. The goal is to have EVERY family that has students at Sacred Heart School to join the booster club. Our family and business membership drives are a very important fundraisers for our school. If you have not joined yet, please do. You can contact school or me directly to join, or just send a check to school and mark it for a booster membership. All our fundraisers help keep our tuition low.
We have enjoyed two great crowds at our first two home volleyball games. Thank you to Bob and Janet Prichard. Bob and Janet are in charge of the Sacred Heart Concession stand at all our home games. Janet and Bob give of their time and are tireless workers. Not only do they work at our games but spend hours of their time getting supplies, setting up and then taking down at each game. Please say thank you to Janet and Bob when you get the chance. Please continue to be generous with your time and your talents. Our school depends on volunteerism in so many areas to help keep our costs low. Volunteering at our home games by working at the gate or in the concession stand is much appreciated.
