On April 26, the Diocese announced the clergy assignments for this next year. Leaving our school and parishes will be Fr. David Oldham and Fr. Lawrence Stoley. This was Fr. Stoley’s second stint at Sacred Heart School. For the past three years he has been the pastor at Sts. Peter and Paul in Falls City, Assistant CAO of Sacred Heart School, and teaching junior religion. Fr. Oldham has been here the past fifteen years serving as pastor at Immaculate Conception in Rulo and St. Mary in Arago, serving as our school counselor and teaching three religion classes. I appreciate all these priests have done for our school and community. It is always difficult when we see a priest moved that has been so important to our school. I am sure it is extremely difficult for these men to get used to a place and then be moved to a new place and a new assignment. Fr. Stoley will be heading to Lincoln to the Education Office appointed Assistant CAO of Catholic Schools and will be the Director of the Religious Education Office. Fr. Oldham will be pastor at St. Ann Parish in Doniphan and Sacred Heart Parish in Kenesaw, and will be teaching at Hastings St. Cecilia’s. Both of these men will be greatly missed and I am thankful for all they did in their time here.
While it has not always been the case, with two priests leaving we are getting two priests from the Diocese. Fr. Jim Meysenburg will be in his second stint at Sacred Heart School. His new assignment will be pastor at Sts. Peter and Paul in Falls City. Fr. Ben Rynearson will be pastor at Immaculate Conception in Rulo and St. Mary in Arago, the Assistant CAO of Sacred Heart School, and teaching religion. They will join Fr. Hoesing who has been here the past ten years and is pastor at St. Anne in Shubert and St. Mary in Dawson. I look forward to working with our priests as we make this transition. We are fortunate to have these men in our school. We are especially thankful to the five parishes that support our school financially and spiritually and the leadership provided by our priests.
