Happy Thanksgiving! There is much to be thankful for.  Besides my own family, I am thankful for the families that send their children to Sacred Heart School.  I am thankful for our teachers and staff that work so hard to make our school what it is.  I am thankful to all the benefactors of our school.  There are so many people that support our school in so many ways.  Thank you for your prayers, your talents, and your donations.  Sacred Heart is a family where we all work together and for each other.  I am thankful for the sacrifice that so many of you make to keep our school strong.

Our next sports season starts with home games on Friday, December 5, at the RAC versus Sterling.  I love home games where we get to show off our school and our people.  Let’s be sure to remember the impression we give to those we compete against.  For some, this will be the first time they have ever been to Falls City or to Sacred Heart School as they travel to watch their own children play sports.  You may be the first person they meet when they come into our building.  Let’s be welcoming and positive ambassadors of Sacred Heart School.  Let’s have our visitors walk away feeling good about their experiences at Sacred Heart.  We have a beautiful facility.  The Roh Activity Center was dedicated in August of 2015. It’s hard to believe we have had this beautiful facility for ten years.  We are very thankful to all of those who helped make this possible.  Let’s act as good as the RAC looks.

Attending sporting events comes with a responsibility to be a good fan.  Don’t cheer against our opponent; cheer for our team.  Don’t be disrespectful to the officials at home or on the road, regardless if you disagree with one of their calls.  This is year 40 for me coaching basketball and I know how seriously officials take their jobs and how much time they put into being the best officials possible.  Officials are a special fraternity of men and women who are doing a great service to our children officiating games. There is an official shortage and one of the main reasons is the disrespect that so many fans display towards them when they officiate.  They do it for the love of the game and not for the paycheck.  Please remember this when you disagree with a call the next time.  Let’s have the officials leave the gym feeling good about our fans as well as our players and coaches whether at home or on the road.

Let’s fill the RAC at home games and support our boys’ and girls’ teams.  For our Pep Club, let’s cheer for our teams and not against the opposing players and teams.  Be a good sport.  Have fun but always be positive.  Support both our girls and boys teams.  We all have different work schedules and our families all have different responsibilities.  Some of us live in Falls City and others the country or other towns. Let’s try to support all our players, the cheerleaders, and the band at our home games.  Boys’ fans, let’s not show up after the girls’ game is over. Girls’ fans, let’s stay around for the boys game.  Not too long ago, families made a night of it when our Sacred Heart teams were playing at home.

Parents, please make sure if your elementary children attend home games, that they are in the bleachers rather than running the halls, playing in the commons area, or being somewhere in our building they don’t belong.  When the game ends, please be mindful of those who will be cleaning the gym and taking down everything for school the next day.  Please vacate the bleachers and visit in the commons area so our Helping Hands group can get the bleachers and the floor cleaned. Thank you to all our students and adults that help clean up our facility after the games are over.

Do you enjoying watching Sacred Heart games online?  Our games are on Hudl TV.  You can watch on the web or on the app.  You can go to the Sacred Heart website homepage www.fcsacredheart.org  and click “SH Hudl Fan Page”.  This takes you to our school’s Hudl page where you can watch games.

You can also pay admission using online ticketing that is available.  There is an added charge to the gate price, but this option is now available.
